of CNG Buses in Delhi: Findings and Recommendations

August 9, 2002This follow-up to the first
independent technical study (see below) examines new problems that have croppped up as a
result of the unprecedented expansion in the scale of the CNG programme in Delhi. It pays
special attention to inspection and safety norms, and includes various compliance
procedures, institutional changes and training requirements to mitigate current and future
safety problems. This report evaluates how Delhi, which has the worlds largest CNG
city bus fleet with 7,100 buses, is meeting the challenge of large-scale deployment of a
