SLOW MURDER
On November 1, 1996, CSE had blown the lid on smog in its study, Slow Murder: The
deadly story of vehicular pollution in India, by reporting the inaction and complicity of
the Indian government and the automobile and the fuel industries to improve either the
automotive technology or the fuel quality to cut vehicular emissions at source. Vehicular
pollution which contributes about 64 per cent of air pollution load in Delhi, 52 per cent
in Mumbai and 30 per cent in Calcutta, has increased unabated at a considerable social
cost. |
