            HARVEST RAIN,
            HARVEST HOPE
On April 22, Earth Day 2003 -- dedicated to the growing crisis of freshwater in the world
-- CSE previewed its evocative public service advertisement reminding people of the
enormous potential of harvesting the raindrop. The 90-second TV spot, directed by Nandita
Das, will be broadcast on major Indian television channels.

To coincide with the release of this advertisement, CSE has launched a new website that
informs people about rainwater harvesting and provides a toolkit of practices and
technologies. It also identifies water harvesters in India's major eco-regions.

            CHARMING NO MORE
            ************************
Till only a few years ago, tourist
buses stopped regularly at Mollarbandhgaon, a unique colony  of saperas (snake
charmers) on the fringe of Delhi. But a massive raid more than 20 years after the Wildlife
Protection Act 1972 was passed has turned the community, which once charmed tourists,
hostile to outsiders and unsure about its future
