            AFTER THE COLD RUSH: INDIA'S
            ANTARCTICA RESEARCH
Geopolitics and science have driven Indian scientists' presence on the
southernmost continent for more than 20 years. The scientific windfall has been
considerable: mapping the geological terrain and plate tectonics, ozone research, studying
life on the ocean floor, and even psychological adaptation studies.

But with a distinct lack of focus, and with bureaucracy running the show, annual visits to
'The Ice' are becoming more of a ritual.

            EVEN FLYASH HAS ITS USES
            *****************************
The Indian government has been promoting flyash for
about a decade, but it is not a safe long-term solution, despite its economic viability.
The aim should be to minimise its generation through cleaner technologies
