Green Educators' Network Environment has been a part of our curriculum for quite some time now. There are universities and colleges across India and the world, where environment is taught as a subject with various specializations. We have a sizable body of individuals involved in environment education, endeavouring to add value to the discipline through research, writing and teaching. CSE's Environment Education Unit has thus, launched a Green Educators Network, which has the vision of bringing together environment educators' across the world to create a forum to share and discuss various aspects of environment education. The membership of the network is open to University/College teachers working/interested in the field of environment. We believe that 'environment in isolation is a dead duck'. You need not be teaching environmental science to be an environment educator. Environment education is not merely scientific and involves social, legal, economic, political, ethical, spiritual and other such aspects as well. We would hence like to invite educators from all backgrounds- law, history, social sciences, painters (have a look at the cartoon above), communications, media etc. to join the network and add a new perspective to environment education. The network would benefit from diverse views and thus talk about sustainable development considering all aspects of environment. And as environment is very much a global agenda, people from across the world are welcome to become members. The network would keep its members updated on the latest book releases in the field of environment and would at the same time seek updates from its members about new books/resources. There would also be regular updates on trainings, fellowships and seminars. The network would essentially function online apart from the Annual Educators' Summit, where all members would converge to discuss issues at hand. The Summit would also be an opportunity to listen to some eminent environmentalists on issues of concern. Members of the network can avail of the following privileges: A monthly update on new books published related to environment. Members would also be able to post comments on these books. Members would also be able to forward their books for review/comments to the entire network (online) A monthly update on trainings/workshops/ seminars on environment. A monthly update on fellowship and research opportunities. Receive a fortnightly mail about the latest news in Centre for Science and Environment and our magazine Down to Earth. Get to be a part of an Annual Educators' Summit, where eminent environmentalists/ academicians would deliver lectures/ keynote address. A host of discounts on trainings and publications of CSE
