ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT PROJECT
|
The Ecological Footprint Project
comprises a package of four eco-tours. A manual has been prepared for teachers so that
they can conduct eco-tours on their own. The aim of the Ecological Footprint Project is to
make students aware of their role as urban consumers and its impact upon their immediate
environment, hinterland, and beyond. |

ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATOR'S WORKSHOP |
Teachers of a particular school or different schools can
approach us to organise a workshop for them. Participants would be introduced to the
broader concept of environment, i.e. beyond tigers and trees into issues and polities of
environment, and various ways of incorporating environment into their subjects would be
discussed. An audio-video presentation is followed by an eco- tour. If you participate in
a workshop, you also become a member of the Gobar Times Environment Educators' Network.
Keep yourself informed and updated on what's happening in the area of environment
education.

LECTURE AND PRESENTATIONS
|
Audio-visual shows-cum-lectures are regularly organised
in schools and colleges. Key environment and development issues are discussed. Soem issues
highlighted are water harvesting, problems of protected areas, and air pollution. The
objective is to disseminate information on these issues and involve students directly. The
programme includes talks by experts, film shows and poster exhibitions.

CHILDREN'S WORKSHOP
|
The Environment Education Unit assists students to
produce special editions of Gobar Times. These special editions are entirely written and
designed by children! We hold a seminar with the students to assist them in aspects of
design and production. This not only helps them think and analyse, but also know the role
of investigative journalism, information as an activist tool, and role of media in
bringing about change in society To make these a reality we need schools and youth to
participate! So if you are interested in working on such a special project we encourage
you to give it a go!
