MISSION
The CSE Media Resource Centre aims to
facilitate a sustained and interactive contact with the mass media fraternity. It plans to
extend to journalists the vast reservoir of information, resources and expertise within
the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE). The CSE-media partnership intends to build
capacity for sustainable development and create an expanded corpus of knowledge on
environmental issues. A host of programmes and activities developed by the Media Resource
Centre would integrate communication efforts, consolidate public opinion through debate,
and enhance workable, environmentally sound and equitable development strategies. |

VISION
To bring into sharp focus
environmental and sustainability issues in the national and international media and polity
by widening the channels for the dissemination of information and promote debate. The
extraordinary reach of the mass media can aid in scrutinising linkages between the
environment and development; spark debates on crucial issues and lead to positive policy
change. We eventually hope to create a network of journalists committed to researching,
investigating and generating information on issues that affect the lives and livelihoods
of millions. We also aim to make environmental journalism a real and exciting career
option for mass media professionals. |
