The Media
Resource Centre regularly conducts short-term training programmes in development
journalism, primarily designed for students, researchers and media persons. The programmes
are aimed at nurturing the skills of research, writing and communication on topics related
to environment and development. They also serve to give the participants an opportunity to
examine environmental issues in a completely new perspective not just as
pretty trees and tigers but as all elements essential for our very
existence.
Scope
Each programme is full-time, of four-five days duration and covers the following
topics:
- Fundamentals of journalistic research
- Sourcing and organising information
- Internet research
- Environmental reporting
- Understanding news
- Understanding stylesheets
- Writing skills
- Editing and proofing skills
