CSE and its mission
Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) is an independent, public interest organisation
which aims to increase public awareness on science, technology, environment and development. The
Centre was started in 1980. For more than two decades, CSE has
been creating awareness about the environmental challenges facing our nation. Searching
for solutions that people and communities can implement themselves. Challenging India to
confront its problems. Inspiring it to take action. Pushing the government to create
frameworks for people and communities to act on their own.
Volunteer Programme
For any organisation to make a difference
and voice an opinion it must build an active and resourceful citizen base. It was
basically in the backdrop of this view that CSE chose Volunteerism and has always tried to
be in touch with the volunteers who have worked and been a part of the CSE family.
Volunteers who have been with CSE have had varied experiences and feel that the
organisation has been able to sustain their enthusiasm and integrate their needs.
Continued communication with Volunteers is important. It prevents Volunteers from drifting
away and losing motivation.
Throughout history volunteers have helped build a dynamic citizen base to promote the
cause of the civil society and strengthen democracy. The Centre for Science and
Environment has been successful in utilizing their services for meaningful contribution in
the field of environment and related issues. These are the people who come forward from
different walks of life, be they students, professionals, scientists, teachers or
housewives. In fact, anyone possessing a drive to do something meaningful.
Would you like to contribute towards environmental efforts in India? Volunteering with
CSE is a rewarding and productive experience. Irrespective of age, you can do something
about the issues you care about and share your skills.
