From 1982 to present: Centre for Science and Environment, New Delhi

DIRECTOR

Narain has worked in various program units of the Centre involved in research, communication and advocacy on environmental issues. She has co-edited publications on the State of India’s Environment, conducted in-depth research on the governance and management of the country’s environment, attended major international meetings as a speaker and advocate. She has also worked at setting up numerous programme units, recruiting staff and helping to build the institution to its current strength of over 100 personnel. She took over as Director of the Centre from January 2001 and is now in-charge of the Centre's overall management.

From 1992 to Present: Society for Environment Communications, New Delhi

Publisher of the fortnightly newsmagazine, Down To Earth. Since 1992, Narain has worked to launch and produce and guide the editorial content of the scientific and environmental newsmagazine, widely considered as the best in the region

1980-1981: Vikram Sarabhai Institute for Development Research, Ahmedabad, Research Assistant

Conducted research for a publication on Gujarat's environment and organised a state level conference on the subject
