This is to send heartfelt condolences to all at CSE, on the sad Passing away of Anil Agarwal. A pioneer in environmental advocacy, dynamic and courageous, Anil's analysis provided clarity and single-minded persistence gave direction to the the environmental movement in the subcontinent. His contribution has been enormous and will be carried forward through CSE And its admirable work. That he could translate his personal drive and commitment into a thoroughly professional and committed instituion is a measure of his qualities. His name and mark will remain alive forever.

Anil's courage through his period of illness was remarkable. He Battled with cancer valiantly, his mind working creatively and brilliantly even if the body became frail and weak.

For me who new him personally over the last two decades this is a loss of a mentor, friend, and a dependable colleague. I will miss him immensely and join all of you in prayer for him.

Dear Sunita and others at CSE
We are deeply grieved to learn about Anil's sad demise. We hope he Did  not suffer too much   in his last moments. He was fighting double Battles valiantly for many years;the one against his cancer and the other For the environment.India and the developing world has  lost a fearless champion for environment. He has already received rich acoloades for his tireless efforts and more would have come his way had he lived longer. We all  owe it to him to continue his efforts for environment and development. We hope CSE will only strenghen  its resolve to go on from here as a tribute to him and continue with the long march ahead of us.It is a pity that due to short notice we will not be able to be present during his last rites.
