vacancy exists for a head of our air quality monitoring laboratory. We are looking for a

                Water Asia 2000
We beg to differ, there is no water scarcity - was the theme of the CSE  stall at the
Water Asia 2000 exhibition at New Delhi last week. For those who missed it, the exhibition
is available on our website at

                The dragons of Eden.
Bhutan has always been a traditional society. Such a society adopts certain time-tested
methods to manage its environment. But now this land- locked Himalayan kingdom is planning
to make a switch and open its doors to modernisation. Can it balance the conflicting
interests of modernisation and traditional conservation values? Down To Earth lifts the
veil of mist that surrounds Bhutan to take a quick look at this land and its people at

                Death rides a pale horse
Is dealing in asbestos dangerous? Nobody knows for certain, but one thing  is well
known. Factories are being closed down all over the world except in India and the largest
producers of asbestos are the smallest consumers. So what exactly is going on? Take a look
at the dirty politics of asbestos at

A new set of rules is being set up to help units recycle batteries. How will this help. A
