CSE's Volunteer Programme

Centre for Science and Environment offers volunteer opportunities to people based upon their area of interest and expertise. It provides people of all ages and from all walks of life, including students, professionals and retired individuals a chance to view the world around them with a fresh perspective, and to understand the issues that CSE has been propagating for the past two decades and be enriched by the experience. CSE Volunteers gain a wealth of knowledge they would normally never have acquired.

Timings are flexible for volunteers and their basic expenses are taken care of with an honorarium of Rs 100 per day. Work schedules can be drawn up for those who wish to carry out their tasks on a part-time basis so that their contributions to the programme are not wasted. CSE also receives a number of requests from professional institutes whose students are interested in doing short-term assignments.

Objectives of Center's Volunteer Programme
The first objective is to educate, promote and disseminate CSE's ideas and ideology. The main aim is to bring like-minded people together and generate a broad consensus on issues concerning environment, development and sustainability.

The second objective is increased recognition. CSE's programme units ensure that they have a mechanism for drawing the volunteers into the consultation process. The work of volunteers is used in CSE's Down to Earth magazine. In addition, research and data collected by volunteers is used in other CSE publications. Volunteers have been responsible for the success of many CSE campaigns and public meetings.

The third objective is to facilitate and provide an environment which enhances learning. CSE provides an atmosphere that facilitates and enhances the learning process. CSE Volunteers are often invited to different conferences so that they feel involved.

The fourth objective is networking. This involves connecting CSE's volunteers with other friends of CSE.
