Total water available from rainfall – 9,563 cubic metre (m3) or 95,63,000 litres
Rainwater Harvesting System
The rainwater collected from the storm water drains carrying water from the rooftops and paved areas is recharged using fifteen recharge wells with desilting chambers. Baffle walls have been constructed in storm water drains for increasing the retention time. The harvested water is filtered using the layers of boulders, pebbles and coarse sand before it is recharged to the sub soil.
The rainwater harvesting system was completed in the year 2004 for a cost of 2.58 lakh.
Impact: There has been an improvement in the groundwater level and the yield of tubewell.
