A. Our
library is open for the readers from 10.00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. on all working days. It is closed on Second Saturday,
Fourth Saturday and Sunday.Q. What

Q. Who can make use of your library?
A. Our
library is primarily for the organisations reporters, writers and researchers. But
we welcome the use of its collections by other researchers, scholars, students,
institutions, NGOs, government officials etc.

photocopying facilities are available in your library?
A. Yes,
photocopying facilities are available in our library @Rs.2/page.
Q. Which library software is used by your library?
A. We have
been managing our resources with the help of LIBSYS
software.
Q. Does the library have computers available for the public to use?
A. We
have single terminal meant for visitors. This terminal can be used for access to our
online catalogue of books, documents and articles available in our library. It can also be
used for access to online database of our fortnightly newsmagazine Down To
Earth. Internet access and word processing facilities are not provided for the
visitors. But we have plans of providing word processing facilites on visitors terminal
very soon.
Q. What is the membership fees of your library.
A. We do not have membership
facility. It is a reference library. You can refer the resources available with us and
avail of our photocopying facility @Rs.
2/page.
Q. Do you
have interlibrary loan facility.
A. We do not have this facility. But we plan to start it very soon.
Q. Can
you provide me a copy of an article available on your online catalogue?
A. Yes, we can send a copy of the
article requested by you. Please inform us about the title of article required by you
through e-mail/post and let us know whether you want to receive it through e-mail or post.
The article will be sent to you accordingly. Our service charges are as follows:
For sending an article through post: Rs.2/page + Postage.
For sending an article through e-mail: Rs.5/page.
Q. What are
the kind of services offered by your library.
A. Our library offers the following kinds of services:
i) Clippings
services: We have access to approx.
80-90 national and international newspapers and newsmagazines. Newsclippings on
environment and related issues are scanned by us and maintained under following
categories:
Environment, Land and Agriculture, Animal husbandry,
Mining and environment, forests, water resources, pollution, natural disasters,
ecotourism, habitat, tribals, health, industrial accidents, pesticides and hazardous
products, energy, living resources and industry
and environment.
Copies of clippings on these issues are provided at the
following rates:
For sending a clipping through post: Rs.2/page + Postage.
For
sending a clipping through e-mail: Rs.5/page.
ii) Reference and research services: You can ask us
questions on environment and related developmental issues.
Service
charges: Rs. 50/query.
Photocopying cost: Rs. 2/page.
Postage:
Actual expenditure incurred.
iii) Photocopying
services:
Photocopies of articles available in our online catalogue will be provided @Rs.2/page.
Postage charges extra.
iv) Photoservices: We
are a major resource centre for high quality images on environment and development issues
from all over the world. With over 50,000 transparencies, 15,000 B&W, and color
photographs and over 30,000 contact prints of color and B&W negatives we are
endeavoring to tell the environmental tale of the world.
We provide photo-services for all our
in-house publications and presentations. We also loan our images for publication purposes
to both print and electronic media as well as schools, NGOs and institutions. A list of
