Mithia Badia Damore, a farmer from Ranapur village has irrigated five acres land out of total 24 acres owned by him. He is delighted, "Agricultural yield has gone up significantly. Now we get 7-8 quintals per year in place of a quintal per hectare we used to get earlier. Earlier our major crop was maize but now it is wheat. We are also cultivating gram." Thanks to the water harvesting initiatives under taken by the villagers with the support from N M Sadguru Water and Development Foundation, a Dahod based non governmental organisation. Situated on the banks of river Khan the village has set up a lift irrigation scheme. Total expenditure was Rs 2,000,000.00 Kirtan Bhai secretary of the Ranapur Lift Irrigation Co-operative society says, "Earlier our water lasted for two months after the rainy season but now we have irrigation water throughout the year." Drinking water scenario in these villages has also improved because of these initiatives.
